Remarks

Spicula 51 mu, gubernaculum 19 mu, cephalic setae 5mu, amphid diameter 6mu (0,4 cbd), located at 20 mu from anterior end, oesophagus end bulbus 26mu long (0,22 x oesophagus length).

Identification using key in: Gerlach, S. A. (1950). Die Nematoden-Gattung Microlaimus. Zool. Jb. (Syst.). 79: 188-208. (Newly described species from the North Sea since 1950 were considered separately.)

Identification mainly based on the length of the spicula (2,0 x abd, 0,45 x tail length). The fleshy spines, especialy in the tail area, as described for M. cyatholaimoides de Man, 1922 were not seen. Also the shape of the tail differs from the description of this species. Tail is more like M. acuticaudatus Schuurmans Stekhoven & De Coninck, 1933, but for this species the oesophagus end bulbus is too small (0,3 x oesophagus length in M. acuticaudatus versus 0,2 x oesophagus length in this specimen) and the amphids are positioned more posterior (at the base of the buccal cavity in M. acuticaudatus). No males were described for M. acuticaudatus. Position of the amphid is like described for M. honestus De Man, 1922, but that species has shorter spicula ( 1 abd in M. honestus versus almost 2 abd in this specimen).
